Manual remote car starter install

Hey all,
Does anyone here use or has installed a remote car starter for *manual* cars, specifically Civics? Is it hard to do? The local shops here won't install it because supposedly it's illegal. That true? I want to install one before the winter season and just wanted a few suggestions on which remote starters are best, for a decent price of course.

Yeah car starters for manuals are illegal b/c you have to keep the clutch engaged. (from what I understand)

I have an auto and the remote starter, the best money I've ever spent. It is so worth it. Car is always defrosted and nice and warm. A plus for autos!

From another forum, I've heard that remote starters for manuals aren't illegal. You just have to cut the wires that require you to push in the clutch to start the car.

Still don't know, illegal, legal!??!

I'm getting one for my Sol [5g civic]

Where are the wires, are they easy to get to?

From what I've heard, they're easy to get to. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but there should be 2 wires behind the clutch pedal somewhere, I don't know where, I haven't looked myself. One should be black with green stripes (or vice versa) and the other should be black.

the clutch bypass is easy, just look up in the foot well of ur clutch pedal, there is two switches connected to ur clutch, one is to disable cruise control and the furtherest one is the actual clutch button for startin the car. just pull the harness out, splice the two wires together and solder it well. thats it.

Many Thanks! The remote start is so much fun, I'll probably run out of gas doing it.

lol. Don't go starting the car every 15 minutes because it's fun! :)
