JL vs Kicker

I currently have 2 JL audio 12 W0s in a sealed box with about 250 watts pushing to them.

I want something smaller, so today i listened to a Kicker 8" :5 in a custom sloted box. They were great, louder, hits harder and clearer. But I need to buy an amp that will bridge to 2 ohms mono. Do I:

Buy a JL 250/1 amp
MTX 325(#?) amp
or

Kicker mono amp

Also, are there any other subs you would recommend for a replacement, not a lot of $$$.

Thanks

i would perfer the MTX 325 but i would rather the MTX 342 170 watts 2 channel or the 340/1(thunder series) dont get the kickers i would get the MTX 10'' thunder 6000A which will sound good ad save you power.... but it all depends on how much you want to spend... bu tthose will be good for a decent price...

The 2 8's hit harder than the 12's???? You sure about that???
Must be one helluva box.

Anyway, a good and cheap sub amp is any of the JBL BP series.

I have two kicker comp vr 12s, 4 ohm, dual voice coil, in a sealed box.

kinda over-rated. The bump great, mind you, but sensitivity's in the 80's, not too great. (85 I think?)

I'd go with JL over kicker, tho, althought the W0's arn't anything special. just my $.02

I wouldn't doubt it. First of all, there is more cone surface which would mean that there is more air moving within the cabin, thus making it sound louder. And he said tehre were 5 8's, not 2. Everything all depends on install, but sometimes even that has a certain limit to it as well. I have seen an install with several 6x9 midbass speakers. I forget how many, but that shit was hitting in the mid 140's, which is what most setups hit around.

Hmm... I don't remember reading the part about 5 8's.....:squint:

oh, btw, with the JL amps, I highly suggest them, although maybe not the 250/1.

I have the 300/2 and its great for both subs and treble.

the 500/1 is god. My cousin has one. I want to steal it :chuckles:

Jl makes nice subs. I'm not convinced on the amps just yet because I have a 300/4 and 500/1 sitting here - both non-functioning....

How can a 500 watt amp be a god??? It's only 500 watts, not 1000, not 2000....
