Newbie questions...
Well, i just bought my first import. It's a 92 Honda Accord 5 spd with the 2.2 motor. I'm very new to all this, so please bear with me while I learn.
first, how big of a wheel and tire combo can u fit on a stock height 92 Accord. The reason I ask is cause of that weird bar that hangs over both rear tires. Also, what is the difference in the "Generations" of accords. ie 4th gen, 5th gen and so on. What would mine be considered?
Last, is there much hope of getting any more power out of a plain old 2.2? Its fun to drive stock, I just always need more no matter what I'm driving.
Thanks.

welcome 92accord2_2. ok as for ur first question about the wheels, before i get started.... you don't need to worry about those "wierd bars" that hang over both rear wheels, and for future referance they are called UCA or Upper control arms, the front has them too, they hold the wheel up. ok so you can get anything that you want, because those bars will move out of the way when you lower the car, they pivet up. next the difference in Generations of accords, is basically just the body style. 90-93 (YOU) -4th gen 94-97-5th gen 98-02 - 6th gen 03- 7th gen. so thats it with the "gens" as for the motor.... hell yea there is more power. you have quite a bit of options. you can get the H22a (prelude/ accord type-R motor DOHC VTEC ) H23a ( Prelude motor DOHC VTEC ) F20b ( accord euro-R motor) and much more. but you will be getting anywhere from 170-210 hp with these motors, instead of the 135 you get out of urs right now.... yourwelcome... feel free to ask me anything and i'll help you best i can
Thank you for the quick reply. As for changing the motor, maybe someday when I have the money, but for now, I'd just like to spice up the one I've got a little if thats possible. I'm gonna concentrate mainly on getting the ol girl to look good first though. Thanks again.

Just a quick correction there...
The H23a mentioned above is a DOHC no VTEC engine.
Just thought I would clear that up.
Welcome to the board and hope ya like it here.

Welcome to HAN
There is always the basic intake/exhaust/header to get 15-20 or so horses out of the engine in addition to making it sound better, but the better route over time is to just save up money for a new engine (2-3 grand installed for a really nice engine like an H22A). The grand or so you'll lay down on I/H/E will be much better spent on saving for a nice DOHC VTEC engine with a 5-speed transmission. This, of course, if you plan on keeping your car for awhile and really like it.

As for your question, the basic i/h/e combo will get you started. I wouldn't look into swapping engines until you are COMPLETELY SURE you're keeping this car for a LONG ass time. I'm still unsure on mine. I might eventually go 5th gen Accord...or maybe even get a 97 Prelude *crosses fingers* eventually. So I myself am sticking to basics. Though it's been said before, welcome to your best friend as far as cars go.

Well, I only paid 600.00 for the car. Dont know how I got it that cheap. It's in almost mint condition. Only 100,000 miles. Ice cold air. So I see me hanging on to this little ride for quite a while. Thanks for all the input.
