Default Hid Filament

guys,
my hid bulb metal rod filament behind the bulb has a small crack in it but the filament inside the metal rod is still in tact i believe. is this good/bad? they still work fine. anyone have the same deal?

*scratching head in confusion* either you're describing it wrong or i'm ignorant. but last time i checked, HID bulbs don't use filaments.

Jules perhaps he is talking about the return wire on the bottom side of the bulb.

ah.... now i understand. :thumbup:

a crack on the ceramic rod should be okay. but if it breaks near the base and the return wire is completely exposed, "in theory," due to the high voltage potential at start up, the current could take a detour and go the "shortest" route, which means bypassing the arc bubble altogether.
