Default Kappa Component and 6x9 Install Help!!

Sup guys.
I was hoping you guys can help me out.
I have a 00 Accord Coupe...and I think its finally time to change my speakers. I have been reading around the net, and I finally decided on the kappa 60.5 components up front and the 6x9s kappas in the back.

Three questions:

1. Should I go with the 3 ways or the 2 way 6x9s in the back?

2. I read a few posts about the install problems with the kappas, especially the components. How much of a hassle is it to install the components (in terms of making the whole bigger for the wider magnent size)?

3. I was thinking about getting the Rockford Fosgate 301x amp? Any opinions on that? Anything else better for the buck out there?

Thanks for the help guys.
Appreciate it.

one major problem with the speaker install is that the trunk springs get in the way. some people have problems with the mounting depth of their 6 X 9's ... i'm not too sure how big the magnet is on the kappa's, but it's something to consider. same thing with the front doors, there isn't much room to work with.

if you're getting components up front, you'll be getting a really clean high. if you're not planning on getting a sub, go for the 2 ways in the back to even out the highs and lows. (i've been in a car with all 3 ways, and no sub ... the sound was clean, but there was no punch)

Dood,

I have the Kappa 6x9 2way in the back and the 60.5cs components in the front of my 95 accord. I can't say for sure that the 6x9 will or will not be a problem for your 00. But my mom has the 00 Sedan and it SEEMS to be okay. YES, all of the kappa speakers are deeper than stock.

For the components, If the 00 speaker housing is anything like the 5th generation, all you'll have to do is cut around the black plastic housing. It's relatively thick plastic, but you CAN cut it, and then the depth will be fine. Honestly, the problem with the speakers in the doors isn't the depth, it's more of a width issue, you'll see once you open things up and compare...so you know depth won't cause any real problems...just in fit.

Good luck with your install, feel free to contact me if you've got any questions, believe me, the result is awesome. The components sound really clear and crisp, and you'll be surprised how strong the 6x9s can punch for non-sub speakers. Hopefully you'll be doing this with an aftermarket HU...cuz it would just be a waste without it.

I recently put some kicker 6x9's in my 98 accord coupe and i just got some nuts and used them as spacers on the screws. the stock grill is raised up like a 1/4 of an inch. not really noticeable, but that's all i needed to clear my magnets.

Get the 2-way. Having 2 tweeters on the cone (for a 3-way)doesn't produce that great of a sound.

i have the kappa 693.5i's in the rear of my 5th gen with 100 watts RMS going to each of those coming from an Alpine 4ch amp. Needless to say, they sound AWESOME. zero distortion no matter how high you crank them. I also have Alpine 5.25in Type-R components in the front with no amp, the kappas take the highs completely away from the front. I just dont have the money for the amp right now. Regardless the kappas sound Great.

I agree. The front 60.5 tweeters will be carrying the freight anyway. I just sounds better having the 'stage' in front of you rather than behind.
