remove all the gromits from the upper portion of the grill (pop hood to expose)
remove all the grommits from the lower portion of the bumper
remove a screw from the fender well (1 on each side near the seam of the fender and bumper)
then tug out, the bumper should pop right off

Do all that, and there are also two bolts in front of each tire, at the bottom of the bumper. (At least on my 99 there is).

When did they start putting the resonator behind the front bumper? I must be thinking of something else. Pardon me!

i took my resonator out with no mechanical skills......just read the instructions when i was installing the CAI and I didn't take off the front bumper at all, i just took off the screws(plastic) around the bottom front passenger side and you can bend the lining to get the resonator out

on the 5th gens you just have to peel back the fender wall ... the 6's you really have to take off the bumper.
