hep! trim kit doesn't stick!

I recently just installed an OEM brush metal trim kit for my 03' Accord. The pieces already come with double sided tape. But as soon as i put them onto the dash and hold pressure agasint it for 30 seconds (like i'm told by the instruction), the damn pieces keep falling off! I tried scrapping off the tape that come with it and use 3M double masking tape, it still wouldn't stick! you guys know any better method to make it stick for good??? thanks for all your help! :(

:\ the only thing i can suggest is completely stripping all existing tape, and tape residue and start over from scratch.
  • use the rubbing alcohol to clean the dash area and the metal pieces.
  • go to home depot and find their industrial strength double sided tape patches and cut new pieces for the trim
  • before applying the pieces, heat up the exposed tape with a hairdryer
  • apply the hot trim piece to your dash and press down like crazy.

back in the day, i installed a carbon fiber dash kit in my eclipse ... it didn't stick at first, but the hair dryer really made the tape extra sticky.

Here's an idea, go get some adhesive promoter and spray it on the back before you put it on, that will make it stick a whole lot better, its kinda like tape, but a spray can version.

yup..mine didnt stick at first..but after i put on the adhesive promoter + 3m tape + heat, it sticks like crazy...

yeah and careful if u try making it stick without heat..it might crack the pieces..

good luckw ith that..it'll look good..i have the same thing
