17's or 18's on 4th gen?
Hi. I am seriously considering 18's for my fourth gen, but I am worried that I will not have enough tire with 215/35/18's. I live in a small town so I won't be driving on pavement all the time, but most of my time will be spent on pavement. If anyone has any suggestions or pics that would be great. I am tempted to go with 17's to save money, but I don't want to get them and then regret my decision. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

just get the 18's.........the bigger, the better, it looks

imo, 18's on a 4th gen will look too big unless you're getting a kit (or already have a kit), or your car is really slammed. the 4th gen body style doesn't fit 18's well. again, that's just my opinion.
215/35's will be thin. you'll be riding on rubberbands. so if there's a great potential to hit ditches, potholes, then you might want to think twice. also, depending on the style of your rim, your 18's could look very 17. and your 17's may look more 18's. more often, rims with a distinct "lip" will look smaller because the spokes will be shorter. now this won't be true for rims whose spokes are a dark color and the lip is HIGHLY polished. for instance: http://wheeloptions.com/images/blkracing/pron1_blk.jpg will look smaller than these: http://wheeloptions.com/images/volk/daytona_b.jpg if you get them in 17" and compare them side-by-side. just sharing my opinion. you can take it for whatever it's worth. |
my boy has a 4th gen with a black widow kit.... the 17's look kinda small...
i think he's rolling 17's on 40's |
I only have a front bumper. And I want to lower my car about 2"-2 1/2". Enough to eliminate fender gap or almost all of it. Does anyone have measurements, in inches, of the amount of tire extending past the rim? 17's or 18's. I have calculated it, but those calculations don't match up with the rims and tires I've seen. Thanks

w/ a 2 inch drop...17s will look good

17's with 45's with 2 finger gap. I highly recommend that you dont have rubber bands as tires especially ina small town etc. and hella dropped, its just having ur car commit suicide. My friend has exact shit as you would want he has a full slam full kit 18's on 40's and he was driving through a small town outside of lincoln and nearly ripped off his entire kit and oil pan. . . Not cool. even if you baby it you'll hurt it IMO.
