96 Accord EX 4cyl Need to fix exhaust leak
I just determined that I have an exhaust leak between my manifold and the A pipe that goes down below the engine. I was able to verify that by spraying some soapy water on the exhaust, starting it and holding a rag over the tailpipe. Lots of bubbles right in that area. There was also soot-like deposits on my a/c compressor.
Can anyone provide some lessons learned about getting these pipes apart and replacing the gasket. I caused myself problems when I snapped off two bolts holding my heat shield to the header... was never able to put the new shield I purchased in.
PB Blaster soaking??? impact gun on the three nuts?. I really don't want to snap any exhaust studs if I can help it. Does it make sense to leave the head to header gasket alone if it appears to be sound? Appreciate any suggestions.
