engine oil capacity
so i fill an 00 accord ex with 4.5 quarts like the manual prescribes. check the dipstick and the oil level is exactly on minimum. Run the car, blah blah, recheck, it's at minimum still. So 4.5 quarts would be the bare minimum the car needs to run correct? to get to the middle and full level of the dipstick, you'd have to dump in 5 quarts and change. That's all ok right?
Ill add 4.75 quarts of oil and when it comes time to change only 4.25-4.5 comes out. :rick: But yeah whenever I do an oil change Ill pour 4 quarts and slowly add a little more until the level is between the min and max line on the dipstick.
i added 5 quarts in one time by accident because i thought i was on my 4th. i checked the dipstick and it was a little over the top hole, but i drove around in it with no problems. my car burns oil anyway because i beat the car so i dont think it will affect it in a negative way. i think it just has more lubricant than it needs, which isnt necessarily a bad thing i think. im more afraid if i dont have enough oil. i once drained the car and only 2.5 quarts came out....
