Default H23a vs. H22a

ok here is what i know..... h22a is the DOHC VTEC jdm prelude motor right.... cool and the h23a is the NON-VTEC DOHC motor right....wrong, apparently there is an h23a that went into the accord wagon or someting, and its a DOHC VTEC motor, i didn't believe it at first, but if you look it up at some sites they briefly mention it....... WTF?!?!?! i've never heard of this..... can some one fill me in!!...

yep it's a pretty rare motor made in 99 for the SIR wagon. it makes 197hp and 163lb/ft torque. supposedly the ecu is not tuned for performance, but with a P13 ecu from a JDM H22 it should produce more power.

hmmmmm this could be something for thought..... how do you think the h23a with the p13 ecu in a 5th gen accord would compare to the h22a in the 5th gen??

well the h22 is a 2.2 liter motor while the h23 is a 2.3 liter motor, i'm not an expert on motors, but wouldn't that make a big difference?

.1 of a liter.. that's .025 per cylinder more displacement.. I don't think it's that big of a difference..

I think the h23 may have lower compression. I'm not sure though.

it puts down 197hp and 163lb/ft torque, stock; simular #'s to a stock h22a. dont think the ecu will make a drastic difference.

i think i'm gonna talk to an expert about this matter.... it could just be something stupid, but it's worth knowing... i guess. also how much more do you guys think the h23a would weigh compared to the h22a?

And how much is this going to cost, rare = expensive usually, it's not worth the price of being different if you are going for power.

You can also think about the "Frankensein Swap" which the H23a1 Lower block is mated with the H22 Head......Forming the USDM 2.3 VTEC....and no we don't have the 2.3 VTEC here in the States.
