What's this black metal thing on the underside of the rear shelf of my 03 sedan?

I have an 03 Accord EX sedan. On the rear shelf, (in the trunk) on the centerline between the speakers there's a black metal bracket kinda-thing with another metal piece that's mounted in rubber. It appears to be some sort of vibration damper. Anyone know what it's for? Maybe to reduce the speaker vibrations?

I think the disc reader is bolted to the underside of the rear deck.

but I know that the trunklid springs are up there, and also the seatback unlock thingy. also I think the seatbelt spools are there.

Yeah, that's where the DVD rom would go for the navigation system. That's where it is in mine.
