Default Speedometer going crazy

Hi,
I have a 94 Accord
I've search on here and found a couple of topics on this subject. My speedometer goes wacko when i'm driving. There is no check engine light, i've checked the wires behind the cluster and it's not loose. I didn't check the voltage or anything. From what i found, people are saying it's the speed sensor. I was just curious to know if it is because i don't have a check engine light? Wondering what to try.

thanks,

-D

Thanks bro...that's what i thought. But people keep telling me that if it's the speed sesor that will throw a check engine light...and mine does not.

And one more question..is the speed sensor right under the intake tube?

Thanks,

-D

I had the same problem with my 95 accord. The speedo works sometimes and then doesn't work other times. It changes on and off even when I am driving. I took mine to the honda dealer and they did a test on it. It turned out to be a bad speed sensor which sets me back around 120 bucks installed by them. To know for sure they have to do a diagnostic test on it. They told me it could be two possible things that went bad and one of which was the speed sensor but therre is another part that can go bad to cause the same thing. And no check engine light will come on. The check engine light is mainly just for exhaust emission problems from what I have understood.

only on an automatic transmission will a speed sensor failure cause a code to be thrown.

I changed my speed sensor and that cleared up my speedometer, the blinking 'S', and the 'Check Engine' light...

Default i think youre wrong :/

Actually, if the speed sensor goes bad on a man trans, you sometimes still get a code. All depends on if the ECU can sense that there is something wrong or not
