Take the ashtray out. There are 2 screws that screw up into the console. Use a stubby phillips screw driver to get these out. That will release the ash tray "housing". Then you will see a screw behind the ashtray that also needs to come out. There are many other screws to take out. (behind the vents, etc.) Best bet is to buy a Haynes manual. They show you EVERY screw.

Remove the two screws on left and right side of console up front and in the rear behind the front seats. You may need to loosen the adjustment on your park brake and pull it as far up as it will go, recline both seats back as far as you can, then the center console will come out. I assume this is an automatic, or you really do need help J/K.

good thing...i found my haynes manual...another good thing...all the screws are out...bad thing...fricking trim panel won't clear the steering column...cuz one, the column is too high, even on the lowest setting...and two, the lil trip odometer button/know/thingy sticks out so much that it gives very lil clearance

Are you talking about the trim or the cluster? The trim comes out with some twisting and bending. The cluster will come out, after you disconnect all the plugs, by tilting the top down towards you and then just pulling it out to the right of the steering wheel. Sounds like you're almost there.
