brake light help needed please
A little while ago my 'Brake Lamp' warning light lit up on my dash. My left brake light no longer lights up when I hit the brakes...
the wierd part is that the bulb does light up when i turn on the parking lights/headlights (or when the lights flash when I unlock/lock the doors with the remote). So the bulb isn't completely burned out because it still lights up, it just doesn't get brighter when I push the brakes. What could be the problem? I tried looking at the fuses but I couldn't find any that were specific to the brake lights, let alone specific to just the left lamp (the right one still works). Anyone have any suggestions? I have a 98 5speed. |

check out connections or loosely sockets. Also check those sockets for dirts that developed overtime, it may cause the problem also. I had that problem too. It off / on once a while.

Dude... this is incredibly simple... most likely. It's a dual filament bulb. That means there are two peices of metal that can light up inside the bulb. And when your lights flash/are on, the smaller one is lit up. But when you hit your brakes, the larger one lights up. The problem is that the larger one is burnt out/broken, but the smaller one is still in tact, which is why it still works, sometimes. Just get a new bulb.

Yes im positive that its that
Also it could happen if you replaced it w/ a led bulb like i did mine it thinks its out kuz there is not enough resistance. |
