'03 Accord 6-speed: How big of a difference do you think fuel grade makes?
When I started out the first two tanks on this car were 93 Octane. Then I switched to 89 for the current tank. I have to say that I notice a big difference. The car feels sluggish now compared to what it was like before. Anyone else notice the same thing or am I imagining it?
This has been gone over many times. Do a search about fule or whatever...
Its been said that using 91+ oct. gas gives 10hp increase.
I have not noticed better speed or anything on mine usinb 93oct from 89 but it does get much better gas mil. so keep using 93, I will, i think its worth it...

Why is it that whenever someone asks a question they are bombarded with "use the search function" if everyone used the search function you would never have any posts, so shut the **** up.
Use 93 Octane, because on some 4cyl's you have to use 93 and I would expect on this high output v6 you would have to use 93, check your owners manual.

Ugh...ok, let me restate. I am well aware of the fact that with high octane the ECU advances and you get an extra 10HP. What I was asking was whether or not people actually notice the difference. To me it seems like an inordinately large difference...perhaps more than can be accounted for by a mere 10hp. Any takers?

But the Honda engineer and the injen dyno helps prove that there is an increase in the horsepower.
If you look in the owner's manual for the car it says that 86 fuel will due, but there may be a time where the car will ping with 86 and then you should switch to 91. It mentions nothing of the HP, but it makes you wonder if the car just barely gets away with 86. There are many cars out there with ECUs that radically retard when you put a lower gas in. The WRX is a great example. It changes the boost level when you use a lower octane boost. There are people seeing big gains uses 113 octane in it. It's also a big selling point to have a car that uses more affordable gas. Out here it's 1.93 for 87 gas right now. My mom was not looking forward to a car that would require 91 (like my GSR). She liked the 6 speed V6 because of the ability to use 87 gas.
