resetting ecu? mixed answers?
ok, before u guys put up the "search" flag, i gotta tell u : i did ! but i found tons of answers, varying from 30 seconds to 30 mins, pulling negative battery terminal to pulling the fuse, can somebody tell me what is the correct way?
pull the negative terminal or pull the fuse? which fuse? how long should i wait before putting the terminal/fuse bak in? any other special procedures/cautions/tips ????? sorry for reposting, but damn there are too many answers. :( |
depends on what year car you have, if it is a 6th gen then pull the number 13 fuse located to the passenger side for about 10sec. It should be the clock fuse to other cars too.. If you can't find it then remove the neg. terminal for like 5 min.

I was told for my 92 accord, that 30 minutes of disconnected battery cables was sufficient...
|
On my 97 accord ex I just pull the radio or back-up fuse under the hood and put it right back maybe 5 sec and the ecu is reset. If you read any manual i think it says 10 sec is all it takes.

I just take the power cable off for a little bit of time. usually ill do it before I start working on something then put it back on after im done.

just yank the fuse labelled ECU for like 5-10 seconds and put it back in. if you disconnect your battery cable you have to reset all your stereo presets and clock and all that shat
|
On my '98 the number 13 fuse works. It doesn't cut power to the stereo, so I don't have to enter the code. I only have to set the clock. That's maybe the only advantage to this method vs. the battery cable.

i don't think it really does jack, it's all in your head. if anything it adjusts after driving like 50 miles or so.

My 94 when I reset it I pull it for about 5 minutes and it works fine that way.
And resetting the ECU is not just a mind trick. |
