Default Neuspeed Sports Problem

Ive had my Neuspeed Sports on my 6th gen for a lil over a year w/ stock shocks.
Now there is like a crunching/rubbing sound whenever i go over bumps.
I looked at the spring and like 1/2 is compressed on a lever surface.

I called up neuspeed and they told me to check if the shock is blown.
Did anyone ever have this problem?
Im prob gonna have to get nice n dirty and take it apart 2 check. :ugh:

It's normal to have some coils touching. Esp in the rear I think.

Does that side spring/shock assembly look any different than the other three on your car?

I know one guy's shock blew and he posted pics, and there was much more debris and grease in the assembly and surrounding area.

Also, if it blows, it should ride different...should be bouncing more.

I'm on H&R sports with stock shocks (going on two years...soon to upgrade) and I have some mild noise...but its the just the shock compressing over speedbumps (I only hear it when it's really cold and when the window is down).

I went out and took a pic...looks basically like yours, only not as dirty at the bottom (but I don't know if yours is significantly more dirty than mine)

Here's mine:

I havent checked if its the same on the other side as well but my noise is really noticable.
It sounds like there is things being thrown around in the trunk.
It is most noticable on speed bumps but it happens when im driving as well. :wtc:

try getting some rubber hose and wrapping it around the coils if it sounds like theyre hitting each other

That's the perfect description of what happens to mine!! I haven't done anything to my suspension yet, but I've been trying to figure out why I hear that noise, especially over speedbumps.

and like jschmid said, if your shock was blown it would be all greasy up in there.

I was gonna talk to my uncle who works for Honda to see what the other possiblities could be. If I find out, i'll post.

it's the shox, same thing happens on stock OEM cars after a few years. but since you & i are on Neuspeed Sports & OEM shox, i haven't had that problem yet (i put it on in July 2001), just leans more in corners than when brand new. the coil binding on the bottom half is normal, my friend's Eiback Pro-kit are like that, too.

just get Koni Sports or Tokico Illumina, or if poor like me get KYB AGX.

those stacked coils are called "dead coils" which people tend to cut if they want to go cheapo way or wanna go lower than the sports or race spec.

friend of mine cut 2 coils off from his neuspeed race springs and it only lowered the ride but didn't cause any problems in terms of the ride quality.
