I think my window might've broken

so this morning I go to roll down my windows ( snow covered car with power windows in very very cold NYC weather) and I heard this snap/pop, and all I see is the front half of my front/drivers side window going down, and the rear part partially down. after trying to put it back up (had to assist it with my hand pushing the window up) I tried it again 30min later at the gas station, but same results, the front part goes down, but the rear goes down only a couple inches, so its almost like the whole window is "rotating" clockwise. at this point I'm not sure what the mechanism is like on the inside, and I don't wanna take it apart till it gets warmer, so do you guys think that the rear section is just stuck cause of ice, or did I brake something, and if I broke something, will it be hard to fix? Any help would be appreciated, thankx~!

sounds like a busted regulator

Easy to fix, but expensive. The Regulator only comes as an assembly with the motor from Honda. I paid about $145 for one this summer. You can probably get one from a salvage yard for cheaper though.

ahh icicic, now this is gonna be a stupid question, but what does the regulator do? can I assume it "regulates" how the whole window comes down? thanks a lot for the help~!

try silicone lubricant first......i thought mine was broken, but then i tried some of the stuff and now it works like it was brand new.

The regulator is just a cable and pulley system that uses the motor power to raise and lower the window. Over time, the cable cut through the pulley and the window dropped into the door, thankfully unharmed.

i personally think the back of the window is off the track, kuz what holds it to the tracks is urethane, the back part probably came off.............i used to work at ppg, a car window place, i assemle that crap......................

I appreciate all the replys, I hope to get to it this weekend (finally the temp will be in the 40's~!) and hopefully it will be an easy fix, thanks again~!
