Default cone filter at the end of the intake tube?

now please dont' flame me for this, but currently I have a 4th gen, and need a new filter, and i figured if its possible to stick a cone filter(3inch inlet) at the end of the intake tube? (where it connects to the air box, obviously disconnecting the air box also), eventually I will upgrade to either a short ram or a cai, but if figure this could be a nice temporary mod? I just figure a new filter costs 15 bux, and a cone filter at the same shop is 20bux, and would just want to spend the extra 5 bux (for now) ...any constructive help appreciated.....thanx

If it fits... which I wasn't aware of... Then go for it. It shouldn't cause any problem and you will have a much louder car (which I personally like!).

it should fit fine. make sure and remove the airbox and u will feel about 1-3 hp increase, plus ur engine will be louder, expecially when the v tec kicks in.

well actually, thats kinda part of my question, will it fit? worst case I'll just have to measure the "pipe" and stop by the local auto store and hopefully it'll be plug and play, if anyone knows for sure, let me know~!
