93'accord parking brake problem
 

hi all , need some help!!
i can't get my parking brakes to work very well , the cables are free and the calipers wind in and out o.k. the foot brake is working as it should on the rollers but the parking brake is below the limit even when i adjust the cable until the rears are nearly binding could there be an internal problem with the calipers???
any info would be much appreciated

Did you follow the procedure in the manual? Helm or hayes or chilton's?

Any how, I am not sure it is the same procedure as on my 99 acc but here it is: And I am assuming you have rear discs.

1) jack both the rear wheels up on stands.
2) Pull e-brake lever to 1 notch (1 click).
3) spin the rear wheels to make sure they drag evenly.
4)If they are not evenly dragging you have a problem with the caliper. You will need the lever on the caliper to be fully retracted or this will not work. You might need to loosen the cable for this to happen. Try to adjust the caliper by resetting it. Turn the piston in by screwing it in clockwise. One at a time. After each one, start the engine and push the brake pedal several times. This will make sure that the piston is pressing on the pads.
5)Once you get them evenly dragging you can start adjusting your e-brake.
