Default 2004 Factory Audio Problems

I don't know if this is a short in the power wire or if it is just a bad head unit. My factory head unit will go dead for 20 - 30 seconds at what seems like random times. but most times it will happen within a minute of starting the vehicle. What is the easiest method of diagnosing the problem?

I would just take it in the factory audio units are known for problems. More then likely it has nothing to do with powers or grounds.

If I took it in, wouldn't they just want to replace it? I really don't care to drop that kind of cash on a factory head unit. At least not this one.

There is a factory recall on these. Go to the dealer and let them know.
