Fuel Pump or Fuel Gauge Float?

I've got a 98' Coupe V6 and it won't start. The fuel gauge has never read correctly. When I fill the tank the gauge only reads about 3/4. When the tanks gets low it sometimes will not start. I usually wait two minutes and it will start right up. Since the gauge does not read correctly is it the fuel level or the fuel pump crapping out? Now with the temperature outside upwards of 100 degrees the car won't start also. It will turnover, but it acts like it does when the fuel is low. I'm at a loss, do you think its the pump or an inacurate fuel sensor? Thanks

Sounds like a main fuel relay or possibly an EVAP sensor.
