Your maint. req. light isn't tied into anything in your car except your odometer.

Do you mean check engine light? And even then, I don't believe there are any sensors that would detect an exhaust leak anywhere past the exhaust manifold, unless there's some exhaust pressure sensor in the cat or something.

I hear people say Pepboys is good but when I go there a lot of their work is somewhat wrong. They Must be hiring any boob that applies.

I had to help the guy turn off my Alarm when he installed my new car battery.....I was irritated because he disconnected it a 2nd time for somereason and I had to show him twice how to turn the 00 Accord into the other mode where it doesnt fire off the alarm when you open the Car.

Dude, don't listen to anything that Pep-Boys tells you.
You would not believe the type of people that they hire...

My guess is they told you that cause they wanted to make some more $$ to replace your gasket...

Check your codes first and then go from there.

You never answered the question. Did you mean the Check Engine Light? Big difference from the Maintenance Required Light...

its the Main't required light. I reset it and ill see if it goes off later on.

my check engine light did go on but my scanner gave me the code about the thermastat problem. So i gotta check to see if the fan is working properly or I need a whole new thermastat. Im not sure if I should replace the thermastat or not because my car has 80k. Im not sure if I can test it or not.

I guess it might be trial and error but im sure a new thermastat wouldnt hurt.

ps.
Sorry about that
