i stop at a stop sign and my car just went off, turned it back on and it died out again right away, then it started up and went, no more problems all night... any ideas what could have caused this? 98 v6 coupe btw

Another possibility is electrical. Firstly, go to a local AutoZone and have the battery and alternator tested--a diode could have corrupted. The test is free and easily eliminates one angle of this octagon.

This might not be much help, and I'm too lazy to do a search, but I know I've heard of this before on the 6th gen V6's. Yeah, I think it's electrical. Do a search, I bet you'll find something.

This could be just about anything. How did the car die?
- stumble to a dead engine? - quick cut off? - bouncing RPM's? It could be any of this ... loose wire coming from the alternator bad gas jammed / clogged EGR valve (my guess) If it were the alternator dying, your dashboard would light up like a christmas tree. |
Cheap Gas. Try Some Shell Super Or One Of Those Tank Cleaner Additives
