Default Computer Problem?

I am working on a rough runnig 92 Accord. After doing a whole bunch of things, I am beginning to think that the problem may be the main computer.

For example, I can unplug a unit under the hood, like the idle air control valve, and the CEL will come on, but when I try to read codes, the computer will not show any -- in fact it never has, though I do reset it after each (wonderful) attempt.

Could the problem be the computer (ECU, ECM) itself?

Please comment.

Could possibly. Are you sure no fuses are gone?
