Well, I just recently took my car to a local shop to have the water pump and timing belt replaced, it is a 95 Accord EX with about 150k miles.

The day I picked up the car (4 days ago) I started noticing that my car suddenly has poor acceleration. It seems to be when I first start the car I have to give it some gas just to get it started. Then, once I get going and come to a stop, I will have to floor the gas and I barely move for about 5-10 secsond, then the car gets going. After that it seems to be ok, but I have not driven the car for more than 15 miles at a time since I got it back from the shop.

I have never had any problem of this sort. Could it be something the mechanic did when replacing the water pump and timing belt? Could it be my transmission?

the timing is fk up. take it back to the shop and demand your money back or you will take them to court. dont let them touch your car ever again, they dont know shit.
you learn the hard way. next time you want some work done in ur car, you better do a search here. you will find like a million thread recommending you to take ur car to the dealer for the timing belt job.

 

yeah I agree, something didn't go right with the install.

 

3rded. I'm assuming you didn't have the dealer or a honda certified tech do the job. Don't let just anyone do your timing belt jobs. Hound that shop as much as you can. Take it to a dealer or honda cert tech shop to get it fixed.

 

That approach won't get you very far.

How's the idle quality and where is it idling at? Is the acceleration bad only when taking off or at all times? If the car is already moving (say about 30mph) and you lightly accelerate, how does it feel?

 

how much will he dealers set you back for that kind of job?

 

At least a good $700

And they didnt install the timing belt right more than likely....its pretty easy do it yourself job for a SOHC.

 

Yeah dude its your timing belt, i'll put money on it. $700 is a lot of money for a Single overhead. I had some guy change out my water pump and timing belt for $350 damn good deal. But yeah go back and get your money back cause they didnt set your timing right.
