what might be the issue?

okay, Let me start off with my 91 acc. ex 4dr which is equiped with an after market header, muffler, high-flow cat, short ram intake, and an exceddy oem clutch; On the other hand, my brother has a 92 acc. 2dr LX that is equiped with an ex header and down pipe, aftermarket muffler, and short ram intake, and the car has been dropped. Well, when I drive his car his acceleration picks up fast and smoothly. My acc. has just a little lag in the low-ends, but up at round 60mph, my engine has no trouble increasing speed. when the two cars sit and idle, his acc.'s throttle is a lot louder than mine. Could it be that throttle is not adjusted correctly? or a bad intake manifold?

It could just be that his aftermarket parts are louder than yours or maybe he has a leak in on of the gaskets throughout his exhaust system which would cause a slightly unpleasent louder sound

seems like your car should be louder but i agree with hondaboy his car might have a leak causing it to be louder. also his car might be a bit faster at earlier speeds cause it's a 2dr which are like 100lbs lighter or something i think;)

well, I had my brother time me in a 0-60 sec run with him and another person in the car, and I believe I did 11.2 sec. Any idea what I'll do in a 1/4 mile run?

91_accord 06-26-2006 05:28 AM

I retimed myself, and I did 10.4 seconds. How's that? I know very slow, but if anyone would have an idea on what time I could get on a 1/4 mile run that would be great.

Illicit Accord 06-26-2006 07:37 PM

OK!!! so here's what i did....

1 - speed of your car @ 10.4 seconds = 60mph which is 96,560meters/hour = 96,560meters/3600seconds

2 - acceleration of your car = (96,560meters/3600seconds) * (1/10.4seconds) =~ 2.57905meters/second^2

3 - to find distance we need to integrate this number twice.... we get 2.57905meters/second^2 * ((t^2)/2). it's t since we are integrating with respect to time

4 - set all that equal to 1/4 mile = 402 meters and solve for t....

sqrt(402/(2.57905 / 2)) = t =~ 17.656 seconds

:) behold the power of math!!!! :)

This is assuming that the rate of acceleration is constant, which it certainly isn't :p

VTEC didn't make it's introduction into the accord until the 1994 model. Civic's had it before 94 I think
