cant get 88' accord into gear??

ok, so i drove around for a bit, got home and parked my car like any other day. a few hours later i went to head out again, started my car, went to throw into 1st gear and it wouldnt budge, i cant get it into any gear for that matter. so i turned the car off and threw it in gear, tried to start it but the tranny was engaged with the engine even with the clutch pressed down, so thats no good.... this all started out of nowhere with no signs of a failing clutch.

whats going on? is my clutch fried?? or maybe i need to bleed it??

btw: you can see the clutch cable moving about the tranny when you press it so that hasnt fallen off or anything....

bad throwout bearing, clutch plate... something in there... sounds like something fell apart.

yeah somthing isnt where it should be. i just went out to check on it and the same thing, only this time it actually caught for a second and all worked well until i realeased the clutch then it was right back to the same.. wierd..

my 3rd 88' honda in about 9 years, never had this problem before..:(

on my 89 dx the cable adjuster broke or something... this was like 8 years ago so I barely remember it... but it was the same basic symptoms, the clutch wouldnt disengage... watch the release fork at the clutch housing, make sure its actually moving.

ok, i screwed with the gears a bit by shifting into 1st thru 5th and such a few times, started it up, pushed the clutch down and put it in 1st no problems at all, ran to the store and back without a problem..
got home, turned the car off and it did the same thing..*scream* could this be timing or somthing?

im not looking to fix it if it costs more than the car is worth (lol), they're a dime a dozen really, but id like to drive it as long as i can before i dies completely and im thinking its dying now..

if its a hydraulic clutch then all you need to do is add some fluid to the slave cylinder (dot 3 brake fluid).

86-89 accords have a cable clutch.
