Default subs

well for those who have been reading my threads, i am actually thinking of getting a whole system for my car, which is 2000 Accord EX. Well, with great helps from ya'll my mind is pretty much set with the Alpine 7897 with i fell in love with. Now, to the subs and amps~! woot woot~ and here comes another dilemma. i've been thinking about either Kickers or JLs. some of my friends tell me that i should either get Kicker Solo-Baric L7s or JL w7s. well here's the problem. i have no clue how much they cost or where to get them!!! so i beseech(?) u guys for some more help. if i can get some hook-ups that would be great as well.

go around and listen to some. you also have to consider what kind of amps you want to run. if you're going for an all-out system, make sure the head unit that you're getting has 3sets of preouts, that push atleast 4volts.

as for subs, how loud do u want to go? do u want to shatter windows or just have decent bass? ie in my accord, i have 2 alpine type-r's, with the alpine 1507 amp. it's about to shake apart now. in my civic, i have one jl10w0. its not amazingly loud, but it provides decent bass for everyday driving

They are both great subs but they are also very hardcore :-). I don't know how crazy you want to go, but the subs alone as stated above are expensive and then in addition you will have to add a decent amp. Go hear them first, tweeter sells them but I do not know if they have them displayed or not. If they don't just try to go to high end places that sell car audio stuff. If you want some great sound but don't want to blow your trunk off, just get one 12in w7(most people like have a pair tho). IMO, one w7 will sound better than 2 of most subs on the market now!!! But trust me, go hear them first b/c w7s are serious subs and depending on what you want they might be too much for you.
hey dantastic, type rs are awesome subs. They are prob my fav since they sound great but aren't priced crazy either. I heard them after I bought my 2 12in viper subs. I still like my subs, but I opened my big mouth to my friend and now I get jealous whenever I go in his car :-(!!!. Oh well!

I like the W7 but I would not recomend them to most people, I have built a few systems with them and they do not impress me alot , hey are a very inefficent sub and you need alot of power. I would recomend the W6v2 or better yet the new W3v2 I still think JL's entry level sub is one of the best on the market and JL will smoke kicker .

if you like the w7 sound but want a little less and maybe not as much money. look around for the jl w6 v2

these are very different from the w6 that originally came out and then went off the market with the introduction to the w7. they hit just like the w7 and are actually constructed almost identically. i am probably putting two of these bad boys in my car!

dependin on ur budget man. the cheapest price on 12" w7 i have seen is 500 bucks w/o shipping. if you can get it anywhere cheaper than this price, u are lucky. i said it depends on ur budget because those w7's are power hugry. u will need lots of juice to run just one w7 otherwise it won't push hard. but if you already had the amps you want in mind, it's easier to make up the rest to match with them.

Dont forget, the 12" W7 has a minimum power requirement of 400 watts!!!! The deal is, IMHO, dont get a W7 if you listen to bass at low levels. This is a competition sub designed to be pounded on. For most apps, especially daily drivers, W6's are great...and easier to power
