Default Bad kitty (Cat.)

1995 Accord EX 4cyl 194K

Haven't had any issues YET... <knocking on wood>

Can anyone tell me when I can expect my cat to start giving me issues?

What are the signs?

TIA

Uh well just like everything else there's no way to tell when it will go...you'll probably smell sulfur when you're going up a hill (high gear, moderate throttle) and maybe the P0420 code. I have both. I don't really care :dunno:

I had an issue with my cat, I divorced her. All kidding aside, on my old trusty 90 teg my cat was melted inside, I felt a power loss and it made funny noises. When I took it off the inside of the cat honeycombs were melted away on the side that the downpipe connected to it. Really bad. Parts of the honeycomb were breaking off and sticking in the cat and then getting shot out the exhaust, hence the funny noises. I had wrapped pacesetter headers at the time. I replaced the cat with a random technologies freeflow cat and put on some Neuspeed N2 headers and finished it off with a Greddy SS catback exhaust. Problem solved!

Default Cat

When my cat went out on my 90 accord, you could hear the insides sahking around...also, depending on the break or failure, a piece may turn sideways and block the flow of exhaust at times, leading to crazy NOTICABLE back pressure! That happened in my supercharged t-bird...yes ford...
