O2 sensors after exhaust mods?

I've heard that once the headers, and exhaust is modified, the o2 sensors will not read properly and might still set off the CEL. Is this true? I would guess that the o2 sensor might not be able to pick up the readings correctly due to the pipe diameters as well as the fewer restrictions causing a free flow. I would understand that the reading might not be exact, but too far off would set off the CEL, which would then make the car run rich no matter what the o2 sensor says.

True/False... to what extent?

I've seen something on ebay a while back that you would plug into the O2 sensor plug and it would just give the computer a constant reading, and saying that it was good for cars in which the exhaust had been modified. Anyone got any input on those?

What else can be done to resolve that issue... if it even is an issue.

false, ive been running a CAI, DC header and Apexi WS catback for about 2 yrs with no CELs

Ditto w/ bonestock, except I've got a GReddy catback

depends on how many you ahve and where they are located
my ITR has one and it's located in the CAT so modifying my intake/exhaust/header and leaving the cat alone has no effect on the o2 sensor
no CELs here

I have headers and straight pipe. I don't have a cat any longer though. Would that affect the o2 sensor?

nope unless you have a 96+ obd2 that has 2 o2's, one in the cat.

Alright. Thanks for clearing that up. Guess I'ma have to go and buy a new sensor soon. Anyone know what I'm talking about from ebay? I saw it once when I was just browsing around. It would eliminate the o2 sensor and give the computer a constant reading. But I guess that would mess with the computer and would make the car run crappy under certain weather conditions... I think. It might not allow the car to burn more gas when theres more weight in the car. I don't know, I'm really just talking out my _____. I'm sure someone will correct me on it.
