Default 2.4 Engine Sound ?

I have about 300 miles on a 2005 2.4L Accord Coupe. I noticed a very faint sound that sounds something like a hellicopter in the distance I know I know...it's weird. Car runs very smooth and is very quiet. I have a tendancy to over-analyze things but does this sound normal? I have exceeded 4k rpms yet when shifting. I'm allowing the car to break-in until around 600 miles. I also think this car being a ULEV that some cat. coverter noise or something is going on. All cars have a different sound so I'm just making sure it's normal.

...go to your Honda dealer, talk to your service advisor, and test drive a new one to see if it makes the same noise.

haha
the 2.4 is a DOHC right
my ITR tends to make a whirring noise as well on the highway at higher speeds
i found out it was the noise my cams are making as they're spinning
try popping the hood and listening
if its coming from the timing belt side then is could be just ur cams running like they should
BTW welcome to HAN

Thanks. I think it is the cams. Only 300 miles so I'm sure it needs time to break-in.

If you're hearing it from the driver's center to rear of the car, you may be hearing the evap systems leak detection test being done.
It's basically vacuum being allowed into and then being bled off the fuel tank and vapor recovery systems.

My '06 MT6 coupe does this from time to time.

Thanks RedThunder, that might be it then. I also notice a weird whistle type sound that goes away once the car slows down to a stop. Not sure if that is from wind noise or not. Other then that, it's very quiet.

When I used to have my RSX I heard a stange sound as if the valves were ticking, but I soon came to realize that all I was hearing was the fuel injectors, they're soleniods that open & close, maybe that's what your hearing & if it is then then its normal. Oh & I know you have a K24 but you have to keep in mind that we both have K-series.
