Default Racing Seats

Okay, my leather seats is really looking like sh!t especially the driver's side there's a big tear across, it looks like i farted and went through the seat.Anyway it's definitely needs to be replace mainly the front seats, the back seats still looks good.

Here's the question, i just looked at EBAY for racing seats they have a Mugen pair for $150 and some cheaper ones for even $99 plus $150 shipping. I'm thinking of getting racing seats instead of just getting an oem leather and it say's it comes with a universal sliders. Sounds really good to me.

Just to let you know i'm not into racing my car i was just thinking if i'm gonna buy leather seats why not buy racing seats for cheap.

Here's one more question what else do i need if i decided to buy racing seats?
How much are OEM front leather seats anyway? Does anybody know?
Which seats do you think i should get, OEM or racing seats?

First go check an auto upholstery shop for prices to recover your seats, it may be cheaper to do that, and all of your interior will still match.

OEM because fixed back race seats without proper roll support will kill you in the event of a rollover accident. OEM seat backs are designed to break when the car flips and as the roof caves in it keeps you flat and thus saving your life. A fixed back seat doesn't do that, you'd end up crushed because you didn't have any protection.

Woah, take a deep breath.

How much are oem leather seats? Anywhere from dirt cheap to over a grand. Depends on condition, whether they are just covers or the seats themselves, etc.

If you want OEM, then keep an eye on ebay. I got some '02 EXV6 leather seats, front and rear for 300, in mint condition. But if your car is older like a 5th gen, it'll be harder to find nice oem seats. Look into catzkit or similiar leather seat covers.

If you want racing seats, be prepared for the advantages but also drawbacks like comfort, fitment, etc.

And generally you get what you pay for with no-name race seats on ebay. There was a nice article in SCC a while back where they tried out a bunch of racing seats and rated them. If you are in the market, you should look at it.
