Default What do the colored dots on the stock springs mean?

On my stock 94 springs, each spring has a pattern of colored dots on the first few coils, one dot per coil. One front spring is light green, red, dark green. The other front is dark green, light green, white, dark green. Each of the rear springs is similarly marked. Do the like-marked front and rear springs belong on the same side of the car, and if so, which side?

I think they are marked on one end of the spring so they which way the spring is installed at the factory.

Just a guess

I guess it could evan be a model specifier. But it's probably a manufacturing/ installing thing.
