Why can't I bond with this car?
 

I bought an Accord before Christmas after some....jerk hit my Civic and totaled it. I am so unhappy with this car. I was sure I would love it since I loved my Civic so much. Anyone having problems with an '04 Accord? I met someone else with the same car and they don't like it either. Crappy gas mileage, etc. My Civic got 38 mpg and this Accord gets 22-23 mpg. That's closer to what our Passport gets.

Welcome to the world of a heavier car mated with a larger, and thus heavier engine. I love my Accord, and realize that Civic's can easily be made to be faster, but I don't care. I manage.

shouldnt of gotten the 04' version, its kinda ugly. just go back wit a civic, cheaper insurance.

Well, the lower MPG is a no brainer...gotta make some sacrifices right?

Back track, what were your reasons for getting the Accord in the first place?

Comparing Civics tp Accords is like comparing Apples to oranges...doesn't make too much sense.The '04 Accord is far heavier than any Civic as is my 6th Gen Coupe. Bigger cars don't get the same gas mielage as smaller cars. That's a no brainer. If you were looking for fuel economy I would've suggested getting a new Civic. I love my car to death, and frankly I think it looks a helluva lot better than the '04 coupe and sedan. Take solice in this: As with any new car, it takes time to 'grow' on you. And Accords have a way of doing just that.

I knew I wouldn't get the same mpg as the Civic but I at least expected it to fall in between what they tell you the car would get. It's not even scraping the low number on the fictitious range. I have a manual transmission. I thought for sure the mpg would be closer to the Civic than the Passport. When I first got it and it wasn't performing the way I thought it would, they kept telling me it was the computer needing to adjust for a few thousand miles. I'm over 13K now and it hasn't changed.

I originally wanted a Civic EX but gave into the pressure to get an Accord. That's the last time I go against my instinct on a car.

What pressure? There had to be a reason for you to buy an Accord... I think that you're making to big a deal over a few MPG. In my opinion the Accord is a far superior car in almost every way...

i'm sure u prolly thought about this, but gas mileage is also really dependent on how u drive the car...i know my friends rev their civics up pretty good, because the car just won't go anywhere unless you get the revs up there...u do the same to an accord and ur gonna get worse mileage than the dealership rates...also sounds like you're doing mainly local, because i know you'd get better mileage if you drove more highway...and what about all the perks of the accord over the civic...faster, bigger, more comfortable to say the least

Geez, is your Accord a V6? My 04' I4 gets 34 mpg hwy., it's faster than my old Civic, and I have more room now. I love mine. :cool:

It's a 4 cyl. DX model. I don't care about faster that much. There are things I do like about it like the room and smoother ride. But hindsight, blah blah blah. It isn't the worst car I've ever had (that would have been the Escort we had), it just wasn't my dream car, I guess.

As far as my driving, I worried about that in the beginning. My Civic was noisier, obviously, and I drive by sound. The Accord is quieter (not bitching, just noting) and I had to get used to that. But I've adjusted.

If I win the lottery, maybe I won't give a crap about the gas mileage. I consider it a challenge to get as much as I can out of my car and I am frustrated that I can't get more out of it.
