Can I flush v6 accord tranny myself? Can't find filter anywhere...
 

I have a 1999 Accord V6, and I went to three different auto stores looking for a tranny filter. None of them had it- what gives?

Is this a do it yourself project, or do I need to pay to have this done?

if you really want one, just order it from the dealer.

as far as flushes go, don't do it. you drain 3qts, fill 3qts at a time. flushing washes metal shavings back into the trany case.

The filter is inside the tranny.
I went to my local Oil place a while back and was told my tranny fluid is dirty @ 30K miles..Which I found weird.

They wanted to charge me 109.00 bucks to change the oil since they use a "special machine " to flush it out.

**** that.....I went to Honda bought 5 quarts of ATF fluid.
Jacked up the car, drained the shit and filled it back up.

No problems. ( didnt have a problem even before changing it )
Driven down to Miami and back like 5 times with the same tranny fluid. Now I have 60k.

well if u are driving automatic there isnt any filter lol maybe thats why u cant find it. hopefully i am righ and u save the money. btw u can do it urself so damn easy just try it unless u are manual diff story hehe

oh forgot to add dont flush better drain it out, lot of ppl n here always said to drain not flush .

I don't get it... Can someone explain the difference between draining and flushing?

Drain = Unscrew bolt. Let all the fluids DRAIN out. Bolt up the hole and fill her up.
Flushing = Like when you flush the toilet the water goes in circles to clean up the bowel and remove piss or crap in there. Well its the same thing.
They FLUSH something into it to clean out whatever maybe in there metal chips, etc..

I have a 4cyl. And im going to be Flushing (Draning all the fluid, Filling it back up, and draining it back out again, Maybe 2 or 3 times) my tranny sunday. I was told that there isa filter IN the Trans. But only really needs to be replaced if you are rebuilding the thing. I'm Also going to be Changing my CV joints. If anyone has any Info on to do these to make things a little easier to prepare for, I would be greatful.
