Help - Going To Buy An Accord - Got Some Questions
Hi, I Brian, I own a 90 CRX DX-I D16Z6 Swap (PR3 ECU) I-Iceman/H-AN-R Compact/E-Thermal R&D Classic, Auto - Manual Conversion (L3 Tranny), ACT SS Disc HD Press. Plate, Fake Skunk2 Short Shifter, 15x7" Bronze Rota C10's Tokico HP's w/ IB Spec Springs, ST Sway bars for (DA Integra), and 90 Integra Sedan B20B, Auto - Manual Conversion (Using JDM YS1 w/LSD), ACT SS Disc HD Press. Plate, B&M Short Shifter, Tokico Illumina's w/ IB Spec Springs, 15x7" Bronze Rota C10's.
I recently got the urge to purchase an Accord. So my friends and I went out looking for one, found a 92 Accord EX Sedan for $1500. its an auto, its black with black tan interior. The interior is near perfect, except the steering wheel is a little worn. The car has 125K miles on it. Has new tires. The paint is a little faded, the spoiler is cracked, the tail lights are missing, the transmission is slipping :mad: they can fix it for an additional $500, bringing the car to a total of $2000. Since I used to be more into the "Go fast yet Look Stock" thing, (I guess sleeper) I've since grown out of it, and I want something to just cruise around in and get good mileage. Basically its time to get a Daily Driver. So this search for the best accord daily driver aroused a few questions. General Questions - 1. What year, would make the best daily driver. In any form, Sedan/Coupe/Wagon. I like em all, more partial to a Wagon & Sedan than the Coupe. But just the best overall Accord as a Daily Driver. Some stipulations are, must be able to be lowered (the right way), have nice 17-18" wheels, get good mileage. Suspension/Brake/Wheels/Tires 2. On 88-91 Civics and Crx's you can use 90-93 Integra rear suspension for things like disc conversions, rear sway bars. Does this apply to the Accord Chassis too? If so what years interchange with each other. 3. Im not too worried about going fast, I want this car to get the stares from da' ladies. Im sure I want to run some sort of lightweight race wheel, under 18". As far as suspension goes Im not sure Engine/Chassis Code questions 4. What are the Chassis codes for 90-93 Coupes/Sedans/Wagons, 94-97 Coupes/Sedans/Wagons, 98-01 Coupes/Sedans, 02+ Coupes/Sedans? 5. What engines are in the 90-93 Coupes/Sedans/Wagons, 94-97 Coupe/Sedans/Wagons, 98-01 Coupes/Sedans, 02+ Coupes/Sedans? I know they are F22's but know nothing about them. With these engines can you put H series internals (aftermarket or stock) in the F series. What about F series VTEC heads on non-vtec blocks? So if you could assist me in purchasing an accord by answering my questions it would be much appreciated. |

So if you could assist me in purchasing an accord by answering my questions it would be much appreciated. 6th gens by far look the best for its buck, maybe can steal one for 7k... you would have to lower an accord anyways, my suspension was shot and my tires did not hold air, so when i went over a bump it felt like i was floating and was very dangerous becuz at that instant, u had no control. defintely change suspension. rims are up to you, i like keeping them 15's (also becuz i drive all street). and gas mileage is pretty much the same since its mainly all f-series blocks. the 4th gens have 13gal tanks, 5th ?, and 6th have 17gal... 2. there are rear disc brake conversions, i think its from the wagons or SE versions, this is for the 4th gens, dont know about anything else. 3.wouldnt light weight wheels be much better if you just stick close to stock specs instead of going to 17's or higher? 4th gens are pretty light (2950) and a stock dx could hit a low 16's (stick) with a h22 swap, maybe mid 14's if your lucky. 4. cb7 is a 4th gen... 5. f22a1 is in 4th gen (90-93) DX/LX 125 hp f22a4 EX model of 4th gen 130/132? f22B are 5th gens i think f23 are in 6th gens i dont really know about building up blocks but i know H22 swaps are possible on 4th and 5th but much harder on 6th... if u want turbo, the stock internals on f-series are good because of steel sleeves? run up to 15lbs... Thats pretty much all i know, it also really depends on what ur budget is. ummm, get a stick becuz its fun and honda automatics and a/c are really weak... |

I am a little more partial to the 4th gens assuming you mean 90-93. I really do like that 92 I wrote about. I forgot to ask, did the 4th gens ever come with a VTEC f series. What would it take to swap in a 94 F22B? VTEC into the 4th Gen? I know exactly what honda auto's are like. Both my current cars were auto's. AC, not so much, however I do want AC though, cuase its going to be a daily drive/ cruiser car. I probably will keep 15's but I may go up to a 16" wheel/tire package. I will also lower the car as well. |

I will also lower the car as well. nope, the 4th gens never came with a vtec. the f22B series (vtec with 145hp) shoulkd directly fit right in because all i think it is is a f22a1 or a4 but with a vtec head. the a/c does work but just not as well as compared as camry or lexus. my 4th gen and my friends 6th gen are both crap. i really dont know that much, thrs many ppl out thr that can help you more than i can just that i have time to spare. check out cb7tuner.com they have even more info than HAN when it comes to 4th gen accords including many DIY's and parts... |
