Car "brakes" after taking foot off gas

This is a really weired problem, after accelerating, and I take my foot off the gas, it seems like the car shifts out of gear (the car shakes a bunch of times) and "brakes" ---slows down abruptly (even though I do not hit the brake pedal), the harder I accelerate and then release the gas, the harder the car slows down. My brakes are squeaking, so could that just be a warning to get my brakes fixed or something? Or could it be comething more serious like a slipping transmission/gearbox?

1998 Honda Accord EX, V6, Automatic Transmission, 90,000 miles.

it sounds like the V6 tranny problem.. maybe its downshifting...and engine braking is what u feel....

breaking
"Breaking" as in stopping or "Breaking" as in falling apart, broken, malfunction?

Damn it to hell! My car has had absolutely ZERO problems since I bought it in 1998, and now the thing's starting to screw up. Son of a B*tch!!!!

engine braking as in slowing down... i use in in my 5-speed, down shift to high rpm's to slow car down by loading the engine, so i dont have to use breaks as much

the v6 tranny is known to have issues... but im not sure which cars are covered under warranty... I dont think your's is... but it sounds to me like the tranny is going bad.

I already had some sort of tranny recall installed in February (or about the same time it came out), I guess they gave me a defective one or something.

wtf, I don't feel like shelling out $1000+ on a new F*ing tranny, I didn't have to get the recall installed as the thing was working perfectly, now that I decided to get the thing installed just to keep the car up to date, the damn thing is screwing up. The good ol' "Don't fix it if it ain't broke" saying fits here nicely.

well, they extended the warranty for you for 7 years, 100k miles.. so if you're still within 100k, then you can take it in for warranty..

Interesting, bc I just squeaked in, in February with 80,000miles (I had 79,998) ahaha! Currently I have somewhere between 87,000-90,000.
