Is a Spring Compressor needed to lower?
I've heard yes and no. Is it something that makes it easier? or what? Does it depend on the car?- how low your going? im talking about a 1.5-2.0 drop.

YES!!!!! Its free at AutoZone. its these two large screws with clamps on them. U put them opposite of eachother on the spring and tighten them down to relieve pressure from the strut. Instead of the top cap flying off and killing ppl it will be simply taken off. Also here is a .link that might help u a bit but the big thing is this pic below. Do this and ur install will be flawless. I didn't and life sux

I've never used one. Like someone said, you can rent them for free, or very cheap. I just helped my friend lower his civic a few weeks ago, and we just put the sprint end against his tire, and held the shock, just makes a poping sound. It doesnt shoot super far like some people make it seem.

haha, we used one on my car, but for fun we took one off without one.....launched it at a piece of 2" thick wood..either oak or maple I forget.....put a very nice 1/2" dent in that. .....the impressive part is that the wood was about 20ft from the spring.
just spend the money. you won't regret it! you don't really need it to put the springs back on....but eh, it'll help there too
