q's on some ground controls..

how do these look? good Buy it now price.. are they like any other GC for a 95 civic?? also for those with GCs.. when you do hit a bump and yer backend gets a lil air (freeway) is there any type of loose movement in the spring when it decompresses?? |
it's def. a good price for buy it now.
but the big gain of buying ground controls is getting custom spring rates and making the rear springs stiffer than the front to help induce oversteer. that alone makes a big difference in handling, and i find the stock spring of ground control too sponge for my taste. i would contact the seller and see if he's willing to get you the ground controls for the buy it now price and you pay extra for custom spring rates and buy those. that'd be a better setup. i wouldn't buy a pair of ground controls if i didn't have a stiffer rear suspension. if you get those i'd look into getting some kyb agx's and having them shortened & revalved to the spring rates you got on your ground controls. i wish dearly i'd done that when i purchased my koni's my koni are blown already within' a year of use cause of my stiffer spring rates and extreme lowering. if you can't swing the price of shortening/revalving of the kyb's. ground control sells upper crown that protrude 1" higher than the stock civic crowns, effectively giving you 1" more travel for your shock. |
my other option is a nice neuspeed Coilover with bilstiens for 699.. from the neuspeed site.. its there setup.. i like that.. and they'll come made for each other...

stock rates for GCs for a civic (at least a hatch) are 375f, 250r. Not too agressive, but a definite improvement over stock. Once you have the perches though, you can get replacement springs for $50 apiece. So you could buy those, and if you find theyre not up to snuff in the handling department, $100 somewhere down the road could get you 400lb springs for the rears, which is something like my setup (400f, 400r), which is quite nice with yellows. Another thing to keep in mind when buying GCs is to make sure theyre compatible with whatever shocks you have... they have slightly different seats for different aftermarket and OEM shocks.
That bilstein setup looks pretty cool, but I'd check into the specs before I thought about buying it. And IMO, unless its just for looks, 2.5" is plenty low. |
