what's that dead spot???

hey guys, fabs here...i have a 94 civic lx (1.5L)..anyways..i find that when i put the car into any gear, and press the gas padal, it feels like the car is sllllllooowwwwlllyyy, starting to pick up speed ( more like boging) and then at a certain rpm (sorry no guage on dash..) it comes alive. is this normal for this model car? also are there turbo kits of my car? any idea on the price too?) let me know..thanks fabs

Greddy and Apexi makes a turbo kit for your car I think. Could have some tranny problems...I dunno??

adamdaviddoyle Jun 19, 2003 05:05 PM

I'm a noob but my car did the same thing when my clutch was going :dunno:

alllooksnnogo Jun 19, 2003 05:12 PM

ya good point adam! do you hear any grinding when you throw it into a gear?? Does it all of a sudden grab and pull??

fabs Jun 19, 2003 05:24 PM

for the gear changing, it shifts ok...just at times when putting in reverse, it grinds sometimes (oups!)...but other than that it's okay. It's not like it's grabbing...it's more like it's a little life-less at first than it starts to pick up...kind of like a little deadspot at the begining...oh well..

yea its called lack of torque :p

CivicSiRacer Jun 19, 2003 08:01 PM

Yup no torque :) You just have to make sure you are in the right RPM range when you shift. I don't like shifting any lower than 3K in my car.

fabs Jun 19, 2003 08:31 PM

so no torque...meaning? i know when to shift...but lets say from a dead stop..i start to accel, and the car is moving slowly and then the torque kicks in...would a cold air intake help matters? my engine and it;s components are all stock. nothing modded...ahhh maybe i'll just stick to riding my vespa! hahahaha..

Snoopy Jun 19, 2003 08:33 PM

you could put every bolt on you can think of onto that little d15 and it still would feel slow. throw a turbo on there and you'll have lots more torque. or save up for a swap.

ok I did some research and I think I know what the problem is.
Its a 1.5 sohc.
