knocking when I'm braking

Blah. I posted this a looong time ago. But I lost the thread.

So, I'm slowing down to a red light, or stop sign. Just slowing down, and as I do this, I hear a knocking when I gently press the brake pedal. My CV joints have long gone out, but I somehow doubt that it's related to that. I've tried doing a couple 60-0 stops, since that's cured the squeaky brakes for me before, and it din't work :( Any ideas? I haven't read through that Helm's manual yet, so don't call me a dummy for not using it :p

Where does this "knocking" sound like it is coming from? Can you describe this sound a little more?

When my CV joints went out on my 94 dx coupe. Replaced one side. The shop told me the other one was not that bad. When i had the clutch replaced, the other bad side hyper-extended. Moved outward to the wheel. The splines were making contact with half or less on the axle shaft. Not good. Could be making
surge when braking. Did on mine.

the knocking, as I've described it... It's kinda like a soft thumping, but not deep, but it's a low volume, moderately high-pitched quick thump, depending on how fast I'm going. but it's only when I apply the brakes gently. If I slam the brakes, it won't make a sound, but if I do it softly it'll thump.

have you tried turning your roters? It could be a warped rotor..
