Default civic 98 shift knob removal problem

hi i just bought my first car yesterday... and i cant manage to remove the shift knob ? i have a new one and i want to instal it but i cant even remove the one n it . its the stock one and ive cut le leather on the side to see if there is a hole of an allen key but theres nothing ,... help me please

Assuming this is a manual, you just have to twist it off. It may be hard to get off the first time, but it'll come. I may be wrong on this, but I think it comes off counter-clockwise.

the shift knob twists off like any normal bolt. While sitting in the drivers seat twist to the left and it will unscrew.
