sunny/bored
Well it was sunny outside today and I had some free time on my hands so i decided to throw the rims back on my car. The question I have is, I broke my lil plastic hub Centric rings last fall and i didnt have them to put on with my rims this time around, So is this bad to do? I drove around and it seemed fine. Do i have to worry about losing a wheel or whatnot?
Thanks
Thanks
i have NONE on my wheels right now lol.. mine all broke last season.. the only purpose they really serve is to act as a spacer so the wheel sits slightly further out, as opposed to too far in the fender space. supposedly, you should def. have them on the front to minimize wheel vibration when driving at high speeds, but mine seems to be fine with none on any wheel. i actually prefer not having them on bc when i did, they left less room on the studs for the lug nut to screw on, causing one to strip. (which sucked btw).

i think u had spacers. hub centric rings are littel rings sit around the hub and fit in the middle hole of the wheel. they sit flush with the rest of the wheel. spacers actually make the wheel sit out further from the car, usually to clear break or steering components

Hub centric rings have nothing to do with spacing issues. They are simply that, "make your wheel sit on the hub perfectly centered".
You won't notice anything strange with them off while drving around town. Once you get up to highway speeds or perhaps 75mph+ you will notice wheel vibration.

well I did some highway driving tonight 70+ MPH and didnt notice anything strange but i was feeling sick so i prolly didnt pay to close of attention. Tomorrow I am going 40+ miles on the highway so i should have a good idea whats up
thread hijack...
as i stated in an old thread i have slight vibration at 80+ mph, and don't have these hub cententric rings.. where would i buy these.. would they make a differance... why are they not on stock rims?
btw i have rota slips..

you could buy them from rota.
In addition to perfectly centering the wheel, they also take some load off of the lugs, letting the hub bear some of the car's weight. If you go for too long without them, you *might* break a lug. Prolly not a big deal tho.
