99 si won't turn over
Hey fellas, my brother has a problem getting the engine to turn over. When I crank it, it seems like it'll run but just dies. We've checked the tps sensor with an ohm tester and it checked out just fine ranging from .8 to 4.45 with the throttle eased open and closed . We thought it was a spark problem so we changed the plugs and cleaned out the distributor cap. We've also changed out the fuel filter thinking it was dirty or something. The fuel pump checks out just fine too. We're out of ideas. Anybody have any clue as to what could be the problem?

Get your alternator tested and make sure your grounds are clean. Also check your voltage to your starter. If you don't have enough volts running then it will turn over but not start.

Have you confirmed spark with a spark tester? You can get a tester from any auto parts store. If you are not getting any spark, then check your ignition coil and igniter. These are both located inside your distributor and are a known failure point.

did you check the timing belt?

Mods, can we move this to the appropriate section of the forums? :oh:

check engine light On?
so your car cranks but just dont run after. check for spark. |
Get an extra spark plug w/ either the proper gap or a little bigger, insert it into a plug wire, hold the wire (w/ plug firmly inside the boot) with the plug touching the valve cover or another ground. Have someone turn it over a few times and look for spark. It may be difficult to see during the day, especially if it's a weak spark.

Check the timing belt. That happened to me with my crx. |
Check your ignition relay with a conductivity meter, this will tell you if it working at all.
