Unknown cable. with pics... Do you know what it's for?

Hi!
I bought a Honda Civic 1.5 LS VTEC, and when I looked into the hood I found a cable loose.. Just wondering if anybody here know what it's for (I sure know that it is a negative cable, but what is it for?)
[The cable-connection I mean is in the red circle on the pics]

Also my turnsignal-lights don't blink when i open or close the doors with my IR-remote... Anyone that might have a clue why?

Thnx in advance!

(Sorry for my poor english, I'm from sweden so that's why... )

Like I said in your other thread, it's most likely a ground for something the previous owner put in. Unbolt it and throw it in the garbage. Or if you're that paranoid about it, stretch it to where it ends, and look for somewhere that it might have bolted to.

it's a grounding strap, and you don't have a 1.5 ls vtec.

Your remote can be changed to not blink... you just need to figure out how to turn it back on.

They have different designations (and body styles) in Europe. My guess is that 1.5 LS Vtec is the EDM d15b civic. :edit: To be clear, I don't think he's saying it's LS/vtec. I think LS is the trim level of the car, and it has a 1.5 vtec engine

As for what that ground is for, I can't say, my civic doesn't have a ground in that location.

It's a ground wire for something, where does the other end go?
I didn't know they had 1.5 vtec, is that the econo version?

You could probably fasten it to the negative of your battery, it's probably chassis ground.

In other parts of the world, the d15b vtec is the equivalent to the d16z6 here. The american 1.5 vtec is the d15z1 vtec-e econo motor.

The car comes with 2 spots that will accept a bolt, just in case you strip out the threads where they bolt the negative battery cable from the factory (the one being used by the battery neg. cable in that pic).
I dunno why the previous owner had something bolted into the extra spot, but there's no purpose unless you have something else that needs to be grounded.

Best to just remove the cable from the battery terminal if you need to disconnect the battery, and if you do actually need to remove it where it grounds to the chassis, make sure you don't over-tighten when you put it back.
