Dumb question....

OK this is really getting on my nerves!!! I have a 99 Civic EX with the famous cup holders that don't hold ****!!! Everytime I put a drink in there it's in my lap a few minutes later. Anyone know of something stock/after market that fixes this flaw in Honda's design of their cupholders:) It's a dumb question I know, but it realy pisses me off when I want a meal from BK, Arby's, etc.

drive slowly... and the distance from my house ususally determines if I supersize or not.

I just hold the drink with one hand when I turn or drive up a hill also. sucks don't it.

Yea the cupholder sucks. I always gotta hold it with one hand while driving.

FromTheBottom 12-02-2002 12:38 PM

Just use your shifting hand to keep the cup from tipping. And I learned my lesson twice, damn Burger King cups with that tiny base and huge upper section! But I must say, compared to most cupholders, ours are pretty good. The big one holds the midsized Gatorade bottles with ease, and the smaller one is perfect for Snapples and Sobes. Works fine for medium coffee cups too. You could always use black poster board and double sided tape to add an extra lip to increase cup holder wall height too. Ok enough, too much energy spent on talking about cup holders.

I just kinda wedge it between the ebrake handle and the front passenger seat... Ghetto cupholder, but it works... :p

dont 99-00 civics have the honda optional cup thingy that fits into the actual cupholder that holds smaller cups and what not really tight

my friend's si has one

not really depending on if u have the pop up ones or the slide out ones .. mine ahd the pop up ones and nothing shy of a can would fit cuz it would be blocked by the dashboard/console

At my shop i had the metal guy make me a insert with a little wall on it so the cup dont tip...you cant even see it..

My 98 holds the Burger King and any fast food cups just fine, but it can't handle the Snapples and water bottles...

1999civicEX 12-02-2002 08:16 PM

Take a Paper Towel, roll it up and tape it around the inner side of the cup holder, it will make the cup holder hole smaller and will snuggly hold the drink.

You don't know how many times i've spilled my friggin BK drink and have the drink go all over my shifter boot and crap. Gawd i hate it, who knows what the Honda Engineers were thinking..

hybridhondahatch 12-03-2002 07:19 AM

i have integra ones in my car (came w/ the counsol) and there too small for anything other than a pop can but its better than b4 when i had none

4-banging 12-03-2002 07:32 AM

for us Texas people, whataburger drinks usually fit but if I whatasize my order I put the drink right beside me on the left and let the door and my seat hold the drink...works pretty well

crucial Si 12-03-2002 07:33 AM

whataburger...sounds like "Goodbuger, home of the goodburger, how can i take your order"

Slacker 12-03-2002 10:13 AM

I don't want to ghetto rig my cup holder w/ paper towels, duct tape, electric tape, etc.:D But I guess it hasn't bothered people enough for someone to make a replacment piece for it. Guess I'll just have to carry a big gulp cup in my back seat and pour in the soda from BK. etc. into it:thumbup:
