Whats correct idle speed? 92 civic ex 1.6L
Got a stock 92' 4dr civic EX 1.6L (92-95 generation)
Whats the correct idle speed for this car?
some say 700 in general for hondas.
but i find 500-600 on the internet according to this article.

I was surprised when I saw that too. Most D16's range between 550-700 rpm or so, however, particularly the '92 is 370-470 rpm. My '95 d16 idles at 620-720 rpm. Of course, this is all according to the Chilton manual.

yea. the chilton manual may be wrong in my case.
I have a 92' civic. I believe that year, the 4 door model i have is the newer body style. the other 92's have the older body style.
just to clear up the confusion. I have the 93 body style.
2dr, 4dr and hatchback have all the same body style for the 93 model year.

set your idle around 750

It depends if you are setting it, (with EACV disconnected) where it would be lower, or if you are checking it once it's been set.
For that car, full warm idle is supposed to be 650rpm in the U.S. and I believe 750 in Canada (don't ask me why). That's for the 5MT. Auto is 700rpm in U.S. and I believe 750 in Canada. That's what it should have been from the factory.
To set it with the idle screw correctly, you have to disconnect the EACV and then set it to a different, lower, rpm so that when the EACV is connected it will be correct.
If you need to set it, adjusting the idle screw, I could check my service manual for the correct setting (w/ EACV disconnected). Otherwise, best to leave the idle screw alone in most cases.
