The BEAST Build. My Quest for 10's
Hey guys, some of you know me & some don't. I've been working with the same honda civic for the last 4-5 years now & it's been a project that progressivly gets better year by year. Last year i ran an Non-vtec forged ls motor & got the thing to go 12.6 @110. It's a lot of fun & i primarily enjoy driving it on the street in the evenings after work or to shows & car events on the weekends.
However, durring last season I decided that i wanted more power & just upgrading to a vtec head wasn't going to do it for me. I began gathering parts. Some of you may be familure with the "Beast" motor that was built by Mr. Gasket, it ended up being somewhat of a failure due to the high cost & problems with piston to valve clearance during vtec on the NA ones that were built.
Beast History. Mr. Gasket wanted to get into the sport compact world & decided to build 12 N/A motors and 12 F/I motors. They worked extreamly hard & had one heck of a motor ready for the market. It really is an amazing engine. Problem was that the general honda community, like my self, really doesn't have 10 or 12 thousand bux to dump into the purchase to the engine, thus the reason that we are driving honda, & not toyota supras & other high dollar sports cars! Obviously the motors didn't sell very well.
Anyways, i was able to get my hands on an unused GX20 for an amazing price. I'm planning to convert it over to lower compression so that i can run quite a bit of boost. Hoping to have some fun! Wish me luck, i'm gonna try & document this as much as possible!

Beast motor from Jegs (old inventory number still in system): http://www.jegs.com/i/Mr.%20Gasket/720/GX20/10002/-1
Enough rambling, heres some pix of the madness!

It's gonna be exciting.. thats for sure!
I just finish powder coating all my calipers "Fire Engine Red' and completed my rear disk swap last night. I'll have to toss up some pix.
The block is at the machine shop, i dropped it off yesterday. I have them adjusting the bore to be exactly .004 thousandths piston to wall clearance due to the amount of boost that i would like to run.
